Sobantu Modise

PGDM, MBA (Candidate)

Triune Partners is led by Sobantu Modise, who has 16 years of experience in the financial markets. He began his career in Stockbroking as an Equity Sales Trader managing institutional and private clients. He later moved on to the buy-side, taking on the role of Equity and Equity Derivatives Trader at Momentum Investments. His responsibilities included trading domestic and international markets for the firm and Securities Lending. He was a partner in an award-winning hedge fund, Genesis Fund Management, awarded the Best Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund for 2008 in South Africa. He also owned and operated a Wealth Management practice under JSE listed PSG Konsult, which he later sold. He has served as a director of Motema Resources, a private investment holding firm and director of private equity firm Katiso Capital. He has extensive transaction advisory experience spanning the renewable energy, mining, agriculture, healthcare, real estate and tech sectors. He is skilled at trading, valuation, transaction advisory, portfolio management, corporate finance, fund structuring and strategy.

Spurred by his passion for Africa, developmental finance and investing, Sobantu has committed to applying his craft as a financier to help catalyse the development of our beautiful continent.

Stephen N Murefu

MCom, BCom (Hons), BCom, ICMQ, RE 1,3 & 5

Stephen has more than 18 years of combined experience in the Financial Services and Renewable Energy sectors. He last worked as a Corporate funding consultant involved in IPOs and Capitalization projects in Lesotho, including the first-ever Public Offer in the country. Before then, he co-owned and co-managed a Hedge Fund firm that won the best Multi-strategy Hedge Fund Award in SA in 2008. He has also held several positions responsible for portfolio management, trading, performance analysis, research, and strategy formulation.

Stephen is currently involved in the Renewable Energy Sector as an Economic Development Specialist for REESCO, a management service company. He is responsible for:

  • Developing and Implementing Socio-Economic Development (SED) plans on behalf of project companies
  • Managing the Non-Profit Company that implements SED programs on behalf of 5 project companies
  • Financial modelling for existing and prospective projects and project financing opportunities
